UK Universities |
KOP student groups will be based in a number of universities from around the UK and are individually allocated to specific KOP projects to be supported through the academic year. Where appropriate and possible, the groups are invited to visit Kenya in the summer to participate in a two week programme of activities in support of projects, and to embody an educational and cultural experience. Different universities now have affiliations with particular projects:

As well as student groups, KOP has benefited from contributions from doctors and nurses from Birmingham, Bath and Bristol, notably in funding and staffing the medical camps in Kisumu in 2006. UK hospitals have also generously donated kit to equip the Port Florence hospital. |

Widows & Orphans International |
W&O was started by Joshua Odango. Born in Kisumu, Joshua trained as a nurse in Kenya. When he later joined the UK NHS he decided it was time to 'put some back' and set up W&O to particularly help orphans in his home area. Daniel Magnus and Beccy Leslie (co founders of KOP) met Joshua while they were studying medicine at Nottingham University in 2001. Meeting Joshua was the catalyst for Daniel and Beccy. Unwilling to simply turn away from the extent of the disaster caused by Aids, they set up KOP, the Kenyan Orphan Project. |

| ViMa | We have established an orphan sponsorship programme called ViMa involving 15 children who have been housed with carers who have a strong relatrionship with KOP. This provides a framework that will address the educational, health and development issues faced by these orphans who range in age from 2 to 16 years old and aim in turn to be able to support more children. | ![]() |
